Eagles Feeding on Carkeek Park Beach

On March 19 photographer Bill Pusztai  took photos of two eagles on the beach at Carkeek Park. Bill described them as follows: “Carkeek Park beach, Monday March 19 2012, about 11 AM, with the tide at about halfway mark, on the pebble flats next to where the stream  goes under the railway, I think what he was feeding on was a chunk  of seal carrion. Hard to judge but I think this was the smaller of the pair which would suggest he’s the male.”

Bill sent the photos to Belinda Chin, Program Supervisor at Seattle Parks and Recreation, who shared them with us to post on our blog.  Here are two of a series.

It’s common to see eagles soaring overhead and sitting in trees, but less common to see them feeding on the beach.  Thanks Bill and Belinda for sharing these fascinating photos.  Bill has more Carkeeek photos at http://billpusztai.photoshelter.com/gallery/Carkeek-Park-Seattle/G0000m6MTXmnWPC0/
